Theme: Merit Making Walk

Organiser: Bhutan Nuns Foundation (BNF)

Proposed Date : June 9, 2017 (Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana)

Starts from Simtokha Dzong junction and ends at Tshalumaphey Lhakhang

In 2016, the Bhutan Nuns Foundation conducted a contemplative walk aimed to gain merit and enhance understanding of the participants on the Parinirvana of Lord Buddha. Encouraged by the positive feedback and based on the recommendations of last year’s participants we have decided to make this as an annual event. This will not only create opportunity for generous people to give whatever they wish, be it big or small on this very auspicious day but it is also an opportunity to receive meaningful teachings, and gain merit on this very meaningful day for a meaningful cause.

This year the special day falls on June 9th and the walk will be from the Old High Way below Simtokha to Tshalumalhey. We will start the walk at 8am sharp from the Chorten that is on the left side of the road towards Simtokha Dzong. The distance is around 6.5 km from that Junction to Tshalumaphey.
